If you can move beyond the hype, having GAE and AWS is a good thing. Having many more clouds in the next few months will provide devs a lot of choices. But they need to go tread carefully as most big players lay out entrapments that appear completely harmless in the guise of free sign-ups.
Still, there are small PaaS players such as Morph eXchange that provide great service minus the hype. Better to try em out.
